Procurement

Accessible Procurement is one of seven key pillars of the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and a growing concern for many large procurement organizations. To date, very little exists on accessible procurement to help large, complex organizations understand what to do and how to bring about meaningful change to meet pending ACA requirements.

We are the only organization in Canada to have successfully completed an ASC-funded research project to understand the nature of procurement and how it has created and continues to create barriers to participation by people with disabilities. Our public report is available now. Click here to get access.

Adaptability Canada is one of few organizations in Canada that has committed a deep investment of time and resources to understand this emerging area of need.

To this end, we offer the following to help build your understanding and guide your journey into accessible procurement:

Deep and extensive knowledge on barriers in procurement

Preventing or limiting the involvement of employees and suppliers with invisible disabilities.

An Accessible Procurement solution framework

Understand and drive incremental, positive change in procurement including policy, technology, process, data, documents, communications and support programs such as supplier diversity:

  • Process mapping, review and assessment.
  • Document assessment, design and remediation.
  • Updating ACA planning with realistic goals and timelines for change.
